A Brave New Journey: Towards Equality in Dignity and Well-being

In commemoration of International Women’s Day 2018, we launch Brave Spaces on 10 March 2018.

Brave Spaces is an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to diverse women in Singapore of intersectional identities, who may be multiply marginalised.

Intersectionalities in Women in Singapore

Age, socio-economic status and situation, education, culture, ability, gender and sexual identity, family status, language, diet… these are just some of the many identities that define who we are as human beings. Sometimes, certain combinations – or intersectionalities – may cause anxieties or affect one’s sense of dignity and well-being.

We C.A.R.E. =)

Because they may have different sets of identities and persuasions, different women face different types of challenges, abuse and oppression from the many environments they are in.

Our programmes, events, research and services move beyond an identity-focused approach, towards an intersectional approach that is sensitive to these challenges.

That said, we aim to develop collaborative, adaptable, relatable and engaging (they seem to coincidentally spell CARE!) approaches aligned with our vision – Courage for every Woman in need.

Join the Brave

Now that we have just started, we welcome like-minded individuals and organisations to join us on this Brave new journey.
